After a difficult year full of cancellations, adaptations, too much screen time and not enough social connection, Joon Dance is delighted to say we will be back at Torch Theatre with our legendary creative dance summer school this August
Safe space = creative space
Joon Dance is working closely with the Torch Theatre staff to make sure the summer school will be safe and fun for everyone. It may be a little different this year, and Joon Dance wants to remain responsive to the wants and needs of whoever would like to come. What you can definitely expect is to learn fun and dynamic dance techniques, in Joon Dance’s usual supportive, creative environment in which every participant gets to make up their own dances and collaborate with peers, guided by experienced professional dancers and choreographers. The company said, “We will all work together to build a show and perform in some way at the end of the week (exactly what that looks like will be subject to change and safety measures, but we will make sure everyone gets that sense of achievement we’ve become use to at Joon.)

The company added, “We aren’t sure how busy it will be yet, so we have booked two teachers, and if loads of you sign up we will be adding a third, so far we have Joon Artistic Director Zosia Jo and one of our favourite and regular teachers Kim Noble, of Kitsch’n’Sync Collective. Both are fully DBS checked, have years of teaching experience and work professionally as performers and choreographers.
“Zosia runs the show here at Joon as well as teaching other dance artists how to teach inclusively (among other things) at University Wales Trinity Saint David, and Kim has taught more Joon Summer Schools than any other artist (other than Zosia). Kim’s worked with Bombastic and many other companies on dance for young audiences as well as creating amazing performances for festivals and public space with the inimitable Kitsch’n’Sync, which she runs with Kylie Ann Smith. We are so excited to have Kim back for this crucial year.”
