Black RAT brings The Three Musketeers to tour Wales

August 12, 2024 by

In autumn 2024 Black RAT Productions and Blackwood Miners’ Institute present a brand-new comedy based on Alexandre Dumas’ 17th Century Adventure, The Three Musketeers.

The show has been created especially for Welsh venues and is supported by Arts Council of Wales.

Brought to audiences by the team that produced The Invisible Man and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Three Musketeers is an original comedy written and directed by Richard Tunley with music and original songs by Dai Smith and Allyson Summerhayes. Costume design is by Abigail Gould Jenkins, fight direction by Kevin McCurdy and lighting design by Robin Bainbridge.

The production will take audiences on a riotous journey filled with sword fights, hijinks and mistaken identities and will tour Wales from 26 September and will run until 2 November visiting 15 venues across the country.

The energetic and multi- talented cast of four include Zoe Davies as Athos, (The Invisible Man and Adventures of Sherlock Holmes) and Owen Pugh as Aramis (Dr Watson in The Adventures of Sherlock Homes) and they will be joined by Black RAT newcomers Olivier Sublet as Porthos and Seren Vickers as D’Artagnan. They will bring these well-known musketeers to life in Black RAT style combining theatrical drama and physical comedy.

Black RAT Productions is well known for creating and touring dynamic and entertaining theatre across Wales. As well as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes last autumn, other past successful productions by Richard Tunley and Black RAT team have included: Bouncers, Up ’n’ Under, Neville’s Island, Art, Boeing Boeing, Bedroom Farce, Loot, One Man Two Guvnors, The 39 Steps and The Invisible Man.

Director Richard Tunley said “We can’t wait to take this new production to venues across Wales. Our multi-talented cast are looking forward to entertaining audiences and to bringing fun and joy to theatres. Expect quick wit and boundless energy with non-stop laughs from start to finish. It will be our pleasure to take this fun show on the road to entertain the people of Wales!”

The production has an age suitability of 11+
