Cardiff’s Festival of Voice final flurry of acts

April 12, 2018 by

A final wave of artists, events and community projects have been announced as part of Cardiff’s Festival of Voice 2018. This last flurry of announcements includes Charlotte Church with a curated concert called Utopia .

Another announcement is a collaboration between Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay called LUMP.

The Cardiff festival has a distinctively diverse world music “alternative” mix and lots of local names, giving the 10 days of concerts and events the feel of an alternative festival in an urban rather than muddy field.

As well as Patti Smith, the festival also takes in the Cardiff dates of tours by other veterans including Elvis Costello and The Imposters and Billy Bragg.  In addition to a diver range of commissions and especially scheduled events and concerts, the festival umbrella also includes organisations’ usual summer seasons and other annual events held at WMC.

Of Utopia Charlotte Church said, “My perfect world has voices from the most diverse areas of world music, grime, cabaret, electronica, all snuggled alongside each other as comfortable bed fellows. I want to explore concepts of utopia and dystopia with the audience, whilst having unhealthy amounts of fun.”

Organisers have now put on sale tickets for all events.  There are also four Discovery Ticket Packages based on vocal themes in sale, costing £40 each (book by calling 029 2063 6464 or select all shows in the package at festivalofvoice.wales and the discount will be applied at checkout):

Ticket buyers can also buy a Pay It Forward ticket, with a add-on donation. FoV’s subsidised tickets are given to people who would not normally be able to enjoy the festival, enabling many voices to hear and be heard.

For tickets, the full programme and further information, visit festivalofvoice.wales or call 029 2063 6464.
