Welsh producer Jack Furness is to take over from Michael Boyd for Garsington Opera’s 2022 Rusalka. The show is to star Welsh soprano Natalya Romaniw.
Due to ill health, director Michael Boyd has had to withdraw from the production that was originally scheduled for summer 2020. Jack Furness will make his Garsington Opera debut. The production will have designs by Tom Piper.
Douglas Boyd, Artistic Director, said, “Michael is a wonderful artist, colleague and friend and we all send him our love and wish him a speedy recovery. To direct Rusalka, we are delighted to welcome Jack, a brilliant young director, to Garsington Opera and I look forward to working with him on this production.”
Jack Furness is the founder and Artistic Director of Shadwell Opera. He studied music at Cambridge University and was an Emerging Artist Director for Scottish Opera in the 2015-16 season.
