Mischief Movie Night is the hit show where movies are improvised live on stage and it’s coming to Cardiff’s New Theatre from 18 – 22 July, direct from the West End where it got a nom at the prestigious Olivier Awards for ‘Best New Comedy’ earlier this year.
During the show audiences get to call the shots by suggesting a genre, location and title – and the movie is then brought to life live on stage, complete with rewinds, fast forwards, directors’ cuts and a live score. What could possibly go wrong?!
It’s a genuine comedy blockbuster and stars the original cast and creators of West End smash hits The Play That Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrongand The Comedy About a Bank Robbery. They’re also big on TV whose fame on prime time BBC One includes A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong.
Charlie Russell from the company behind the show, Mischief Theatre says ‘It’s such a joy to bring Mischief Movie Night to such welcoming venues like the New, all of which have played to 100% capacity with our Goes Wrong shows. Returning to our improv roots is very special for us as this is where it all began. We’re very excited!’
Mischief Theatre was founded in 2008 by a group of graduates of The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and began as an improvised comedy group. Mischief Theatre now performs across the UK and internationally with improvised and original scripted work. Mischief Theatre has two shows playing concurrently in the West End: the Olivier and Tony award-winning production of The Play That Goes Wrong is at the Duchess Theatre, London and on Broadway; and the other production The Comedy About A Bank Robbery is currently at the Criterion Theatre, London and will tour to Cardiff this autumn. The company is led by Artistic Director Henry Lewis and Company Director Jonathan Sayer.
Mischief Movie Night runs from 18 – 22 July and tickets are available from the Box Office on (029) 2087 8889 and newtheatrecardiff.co.uk.
