Jane Eyre is undoubtedly one of the most vivid literary heroines. Her strong spirit overcomes a difficult early life, and her relationship with the impassioned Mr Rochester has captivated readers since the novel was first published in 1847.
All the intensity and emotion of the original story has now been adapted into a new, captivating ballet by choreographer Cathy Marston. Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director David Nixon OBE says: “When I commissioned Cathy to create Jane Eyre, I knew it would be the perfect vehicle for her celebrated talents. As expected, her return to working with Northern Ballet has been a huge hit, captivating the imaginations of audiences and critics alike and was nominated for the South Bank Sky Arts Dance Award 2017, a tremendous achievement”.
Like Casanova, hosted by the New in 2017, Northern Ballet’s brilliant dance actors are joined by the Northern Ballet Sinfonia, and together they bring this tale of romance, jealousy and dark secrets to life.
Northern Ballet’s Jane Eyre is performed at Cardiff’s New Theatre next week from 24 – 28 April. For full details and to book tickets, please visit newtheatrecardiff.co.uk or call the Box Office on (029) 2087 8889.
