UPROAR back on the road

May 18, 2022 by

Professor Bad Trip from UPROAR is at Galeri, Caernerfon on May 20 before heading to France in June.

The rescheduled performances started at Bristol New Music Festival earlie rin May, after a the original tour was cut short in early 2020.

Audiences are again able to experience UPROAR’s programme of classical music fused with electronics as part of its commitment of being pioneers of new music.

Professor Bad Trip was UPROAR’s second project which toured to Chapter Arts Centre and Aberystwyth Arts Centre in 2020. Now audiences at Bristol New Music Festival, Galeri (Caernarfon) and Montpellier (France) will be able to experience the live concert in person. Plus, BBC Radio 3 will be recording the Galeri concert to be broadcast later in the month.
Professor Bad Trip includes three Welsh commissions of music created for large ensemble and live electronics by three contemporary Welsh composers, Sarah Lianne Lewis, Bethan Morgan-Williams and Andrew Lewis – each at a different stage in their careers. The programme also includes three established works from pioneers of electroacoustic music who emerged from the Spectral movement at IRCAM in Paris – Tristan Murail, Fausto Romitelli and Kaija Saariaho – so it is fitting that one of UPROAR’s performances will take place during the Festival KLANG in Montpellier at Salle Molière within the Opera Comedie.
All performances of Professor Bad Trip have a strong visual presentation and will be introduced by a pre-performance talk hosted by Steph Power and featuring the commissioned composers or conductor.

UPROAR embraces all areas which involve contemporary classical music. As a mature, well-honed group of musicians with a great passion for music, and embodying all the considerable skills necessary to perform contemporary music, it is ideally placed to fulfil this role in Wales. UPROAR’s last concert, Scenes from a Street in Spring 2022, welcomed back audiences to a live concert with a visceral music experience of new music, some of which involved audiences making the music sounds themselves with popping candy!

20 May 2022 Galeri, Caernarfon, 7.30pm

1 Jun 2022 Salle Molière, Montpellier, France, 7pm
