Having now exceeded 1,500 reviews from performances throughout Wales, Arts Scene in Wales has thanked its reviewers throughout the nation for contributing to our most comprehensive and inclusive live performance platform.

Every professional Welsh language, dance and opera performed in 2018 has been reviewed and the vast majority of English language theatre covered. The only exceptions are a tiny number of local English language shows where a small number of venues (they know who they are!) have been unable or unwilling to provide reviewers tickets.

As all of Arts Scene in Wales reviewers contribute to the Wales Theatre Awards this also means the annual celebration of excellence is uniquely inclusive and comprehensive – and at no cost as Arts Scene in Wales receives NO funding from Arts Council of Wales or any other body, private or public. That means money for the arts is spent on the arts, not subsidising online blog sites.

Similarly, the participation of reviewers from throughout the nation in Wales Theatre Awards and the generous in and support from venues and advertisers means the Wales Theatre Awards are also run at NO cost and the scheme receives NO funding from Arts Council of Wales. That means money for the arts is spent on the arts.

Nominations for the Wales Theatre Awards 2019 are now open and the organisers of the Awards are sending out nomination forms. If you are a published reviewer in Wales print, online or broadcast, and have not received your nomination form email: [email protected]
