If you want to warm up these chilly December evenings and add a little spice to life head down to the Castellana at the Spiegeltent at Cardiff Castle.
As soon as the Cardiff Christmas Festival show starts the audience at this pulse raising show started whooping and cheering, joining in the party spirit and probably feeling rather relieved they had spotted the 16 plus age guidance.
The hugely talented cast combine a wide range of circus skills with cheeky, in both meanings of the word, burlesque performances, plenty of lip synching and some live singing, to big hitter sings including several lively Lady Gaga hits.
This is all set in a pretty straightforward story which gave the show a Welsh feel, based in the some bygone time when magic and magical people, well, I am not really sure what, and had Welsh names. For some reason we had a rendition of Calon Lan but to be honest I doubt whether I was the only person who really didn’t care what the plot was – we were there for the thrills and fortunately no spills, laughs, oohs and ahhs and, yes, loads of flesh on show.
The cast features international stars of comedy, music and physical theatre, directed by Olivier Award-winning director, Damian Cruden, and while there is nothing shocking the team points out it does includes naughtiness and nudity.

It really is a great evening out and making it even more special is the Spiegeltent being inside the castle walls, sitting alongside the ice rink, food and drink outlets, festive lights, and the castle beautifully lit up.
This show for the grown-ups follows on from the children’s show Santa’s Wish which our reviewer described as the best family show she had ever seen.
Live Under the Stars and Jamboree Entertainment have brought some splendid festive fun and frollicks to Cardiff this festive season. Don’t miss the shows.
